FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you put new lenses into frames I already own?
Yes, depending on the condition off your frame. Keep in mind that lenses are an investment and your frame may be discontinued and out of warranty. Accidents happen, and parts for your frame may no longer be available.
  • Do you repair glasses?
Yes, but it is a case-by-case scenario depending on parts available and breakage points. We recommend sending us a picture of the broken parts or stopping in store to speak with a specialist.
  • Can the lens of the glasses break? Should I buy special glasses for myself or child to prevent eye injuries?
Yes, eyeglass lenses can break. We only use safety grade polycarbonate lenses in children's eyeglasses or adults that need extra protection.
  • What are polarized lenses?
Polarized lenses for sunglasses are an option to block glare from water, pavement, and reflective surfaces.
  • Do I need a new prescription to get new glasses?
We recommend an eye exam with one of our trusted optometrists every one to two years for best results with prescription glasses. The size, shape, curvature, and fit of the frame need to be matched to the doctor's prescription for the eyewear to function properly. Our trained employees are skilled in the custom fitting of your eyewear.
  • How often should I get a new pair of glasses?
Eyeglass lenses get microscopic scratches over time. This makes them less clear and causes a lot of glare, especially with night driving. Even if your prescription remains the same, updating the lenses and frame at least every two years is recommended.
  • How can I know what style of eyeglasses look good on me?
Our specialists are trained to find a good fitting and good looking frame. We consider your face shape, skin tone, hair style, lens prescription and how you plan to use the glasses when selecting your frame. You can also look through our Find Your Style section to find a variety of styles that perfectly match your personal tastes and preferences.
  • Do you accept insurance?
Yes! We bill directly to the largest number of insurance companies including: Green Shield Sun Life Financial Chambers of Commerce Insurance Group Cowan Desjardins Insurance Great-West Life Industrial Alliance Johnson Inc. Manulife Financial Maximum Benefit or Johnston Group Standard Life
  • Do vision insurances cover sunglasses?
Yes! Prescription sunglasses are covered. Remember, if you don’t use it, you lose it!
  • What is the warranty on the glasses that I buy at your optical?
Lenses and frames are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for one year from date of purchase. This warranty does not cover loss/theft or breakage.
  • Why do my glasses keep sliding off my face?
Regular, every day activities can loosen the fit of your eyeglasses. Adjustments and maintenance of your glasses is part of every in-store purchase. To maintain the fit, do not wear your glasses on top of your head and always keep them in a hard case when they are not in use.
  • What is the best way to clean my glasses?
Always rinse the lenses with water to remove dust or grit. Use eyeglass spray to remove any film. A clean microfiber cloth will dry the lenses without streaking.
  • How long does it typically take to get my glasses?
Custom made glasses are usually available in as little as 3 days, up to two weeks depending on availability.
